Multicultural Day

The Regroupement des étudiantes et étudiants de maitrise, diplôme et doctorat de l’Université Sherbrooke (REMDUS) and the Association interculturelle des étudiants de l’Université de Sherbrooke (AIEUS) have the pleasure of informing you that they are organising a Multicultural Day on Friday 01/12/2017, starting 15:30. Their versatile program is proposing:

–          An exposition of artistic and cultural objects from all nationalities interested to share their cultural background and respective traditions to the student population of the Université de Sherbrooke ;

–          A Multicultural Diner: a very special moment to share cultural traditions.Students will then taste and discover traditional dishes from other countries than their own;

–          A dancing evening where all worries are left aside before exams.

Preview of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi


The REMDUS is giving you the chance to watchan exclusive premier of the brand new „Star Wars:The Last Jedi“ in a private screening. Three movie theatres have already been reserved at the Maison du Cinema so that you could attend these exclusive previews (in both French and English) on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

French version: 7 pm, theatre 11

English version: 7:15 pm, theatre 10

English version: 7:15 pm, theatre 08

On this occasion, REMDUS will be selling until November 24, 2017 tickets at the cost of 5 $ each. After this date the tickets will still be available but at a cost of 7 $ for the non-members.

If you want to buy a ticket for another REMDUS member, you will need to provide his or her student card at the moment of the purchase.

Popularization contest

The Université de Sherbrooke is organizing a scientific popularization contest. The goal is designed to showcase scientific excellence and to promote the success of fundamental or applied research works, which are carried out on its premises.

To participate in this contest, you should write a news article of no more than 600 words for public interest. Its content should take the form of an abstract of a scientific article, published last year, or in the process of being accepted for publishing, and written by a member of the UdeS. All successful news articles will be awarded a 200 $ grant and will then on have the chance to enter a second ballot for a 400 $ or 300 $ grant respectively, if they are selected at a different stage of the contest. The 11th History Student Conference of the UdeS.

On March 15 and 16, 2018, the 11th History Student Conference of the UdeS will take place. For this edition, the organizing committee sets the ground for introspection on the discipline itself.  

The organizing committee is giving you the opportunity to reflect in a critically manner and at a larger scale about History and its utility within the public sphere, as well as about the newer approaches in the field. You are also invited to revisit your own research subjects in regards to their utility or particularities. We are encouraging you to take part in this conference, which is intended to promote dissemination in all possible ways the current researches in the field of History. For more information on the subject, you could refer to this document.

All interested students  can submit their communications proposals no later than December 15, 2017, at the email address .  Their proposals should bear a title, an abstract of at least 300 words of the intended communication,  as well as a short biographical presentation of the author. All students whose proposals are selected will be contacted later in January 2018.




Student Symposium of the CRIEVAT

On Mars 23, 2018 the 11th edition of the Student Symposium organized by the Centre de recherche et d’intervention sur l’éducation et la vie au travail (CRIEVAT). The theme of this edition bearing the title : Sharing our knowledge and practices so that we live better in today’s society. For this edition, the symposium will be bilingual, organizes in collaboration with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Open to both French and English student communities, this event is covering the following main themes:

  • Preparation for Life, Traditions, Personal and Educational Experiences
  • Diversity in a personal and life trajectories
  • Individual and Societal improvement practises

The main objective of this event is to allow an interdisciplinary exchange in a very convivial atmosphere about Master’s and Doctoral projects of students enrolled in the Faculties of Education and Human and Social Sciences (sociology, orientation, counselling, psychology, administration, industrial relation, etc.), regardless of the stage of their scientific research (review of the specific literature, problematic, methodological issues, search results). Two forms of communication are available:

  • Oral communication (French or English)
  • Poster communication (French or English)

Contest #IAmInnovation

Take part into the contest Twitter #IAmInnovation and you will have the chance to win money

The Canada Foundation for innovation (CFI) invites all students and postdoctoral trainees from universities, colleges, research hospitals, and research institutes in Canada to respond by December 1st, on how the work in high-tech equipped spaces has benefited them.

To demonstrate how the CFI-funded infrastructure is synonymous with new opportunities, they must submit on Twitter an image or a video of your work with the equipment or of the areas of research, funded by the CFI. Make sure you use the hash tags: #IAmInnovation and #Contest to be eligible.

Your submissions on Twitter should be creative and funny. Help us explain to all Canadians the importance of having the most brilliant minds in the country working with the tools they need to innovate and think big. Read the contest rules..







The position of Vice President for Social Life and Internal Affairs at the REMDUS

The REMDUS team is looking for a student to assume the requirements for the position of Vice President for Social Life and Internal Affairs. He or she will ensure all communications between REMDUS members and student associations, present on the UdeS campuses. The contract will cover the winter term (H2018) and will start on December 13, 2017, after the elections of the REMDUS congress. To run for this position or if you want more information on the subject, please visit the REMDUS official website. You will also have to be present before all REMDUS members the night of the elections, at the REMDUS congress on December 13, 2017, starting 6:00 pm. The deadline for applications for this post is December 10, 2017, at midnight.  




Call for nominations: Innovative research projects in relation with the labour market.

The Fédération autonome de l’enseignement (FAE) is a national trade union organization representing about 34 000 teachers and encouraging the development of knowledge and education. A scholarship was created to support this ideal, which aims all innovative research projects touching one of the multiple components of the labour market relations. The FAE is inviting thus all persons who fit the following eligibility criteria to submit their application:

  • To be enrolled in a Graduate Studies Program or to have a Graduate diploma;
  • To have a progressive research subject in relation to the labour market and be compatible with the FAE union core values.

All interested individuals will have until January 28, 2018 to submit their application. All details about eligibility criteria as well as the form to fill are available on the Internet website. All received applications will be carefully studied and analyzed based on a set program schedule. The scholarship will be awarded in the spring of 2018.
