 EVENTS

Caucus UEQ
Quebec student union (UEQ for Union étudiante du Québec) is a student provincial unionwhich regroup many student associations from Quebec Universities. REMDUS is part of this union and for this reason participate to the Caucus which will take place from the 18th to the 20th of August. The caucus is the heart of the union, it occurs every three month. It is this body that makes all of the association’s political decisions. It is also where all annual orientations are voted on. The caucus then mandates the committees. They may meet as often as necessary, in between regular meetings of the caucus, and work on the mandates assigned to them by the caucus in an informal way (for example: by preparing research documents, notices, action plans, etc).

The non-profit organization Science & Policy Exchange (SPE) supports the Naylor report which has set out 35 clear recommendations as part of a plan to restore and strengthen the fundamental research funding ecosystem in Canada. For this reason, SPE invites all research trainees (students & post-docs), and those in the research community who wish to support the student perspective, to join our call for the full implementation of the Fundamental Science Review by signing the open letter to Prime Minister Trudeau and to submit video testimonials.

You can find HERE all the information, the open letter and the platform to put your videos.

Survey student intersectoral committee (CIÉ) of Quebec research funds (FRQ)
To better define and understand all aspects of the issue of supporting the graduate students for a workplace beyond an academic career, the Student Intersectoral Committee (Comité intersectoriel étudiant – CIÉ) of the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) invites you to take part in a survey. The survey is intended as the first step of a consultation process that will address this issue more in depth through in-person group discussions to identify innovative ways to support this type of career path. CIÉ therefore invites students enrolled in a Master’s or a Doctorate program, postdoctoral fellows and former graduate students (whether employed or not) to complete this survey.

More information and survey available up to August 11th
